October 4, 2008

I missed class as I was busy being the "Queen of Spades" at Juneau-Gastineau Rotary Bulb Sale / Distribution.
I spent some time becoming reacquainted with Painter and was inspired by the stormy fall days we are having.
Using the Palette Knife and the Color Palette I created version A. Using Marbleizing, under Effects, I created version B, " Autumn Storm".

We focused on channels, layers and selections in Photoshop. I need to spend some time using channels and then
layers and get a better feel for how one may be a better choice than the other to apply on particular project.

Using the selection tool I selected the leaf from my Grass-Leaf photo. I created a new layer and painted the leaf using the brush and eyedropper. I used copy and paste to create several layers of the same leaf and with each leaf applied the Free Transformation tool and Move tool. Next I applied the Liquify filter to the top three leaves and changed the opacity of the top and bottom leaves. The background is black and I added a gold frame using the canvas size option. I like how the lower opacity of the bottom leaves allowed the gold frame to show through.

I started out with a "sketchie" drawing of bottles. After scanning the drawing I transformed it into a drawing using the paint brush and then played around with color and some artistic filters - glass and noise. I wanted a more transparent appearance so adjusted the opacity and used the gradient tool...it was not an instant transformation...more a process of discovery.

These are a couple of my photos I sent as Thanksgiving ecards in past years using Photoshop and the text tool.

Experimented in Photoshop today using tools and palettes. To create the Technology and Fine Art poster I created layers with adjusted opacity and used the marquee, quick selection, text and move tools.

September 6, 2008

Today was an introduction and overview of what Technology and Fine Art will be all about and we set up our blogs. We have a class of nine students. Raven, the sculpture out in front of the Egan Library, is getting a new coat of paint in preparation for Evening at Egan on Friday - presentation on ravens. It is a beautiful sunny fall day and the leaves are starting to turn.
